Four Foundations for a Happy Home

house-on-sand2Jesus said that the wise man built his house on the rock but the foolish man built his house on the sand (Matthew 7:24-27). Where and how we build our homes will determine if they last. How can we make sure we build on a good foundation? How can we put Jesus first in our time, our money, our priorities and our parenting?

This Sabbath Pastor Dan & his wife Lois will answer these questions as they again team preach in our series on homes and families. Join us this Sabbath at Richardson Seventh-day Adventist Church (9am & 11:30am) and feel free to invite friends. This is part of our series “With Jesus in the Family, Happy, Happy Home.”

Relationships SWOT Analysis – Sep 26

swotIn the business world if you want to improve your company you do a SWOT analysis. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats. On a sheet of paper you draw two perpendicular lines making four equal sections. In one section you and your team list strengths of the company, in another section you list weaknesses, etc. This gives a quick overview of how and where to improve.

What if we each did a SWOT analysis in our homes and relationships? Would it give us an idea of what strengths to affirm, what weaknesses to change, what opportunities to seize and what threats to guard against?

That’s what we’ll do this Sabbath as Pastor Dan & his wife Lois lead us on a study of Ephesians 5:15-21, a Biblical template of a Relationships SWOT analysis. And this inspired Bible passage tells us how to get the power to make the changes we need after the analysis! Health Evangelism in Our Time

Baner_healthThere is a health crisis in America today. Two hundred million Americans are overweight and 100 million are obese. More than 75 million Americans have high blood pressure. Five million people are diabetic and the number has doubled in the past 20 years. Forty percent of the population suffers from the Metabolic Syndrome, a complication of obesity and a precursor of type II diabetes. Having the Metabolic Syndrome also triples the risk of developing Alzheimer’s dementia. Heart disease remains the No. 1 cause of death for men and women, followed by stroke and obesity-related cancers. Despite excessive caloric consumption, over three-quarters of the population have a deficient intake of one or more essential nutrients. Greater levels of obesity are actually associated with lower nutritional status. “Why are so many Americans sick and out-of-shape?” In other words, why do so many need medical care in the first place? Why do chronic medical problems like diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol abound? Why is there an obesity epidemic?Read More

Two Covenants – August 22

veil_sanctuaryThere is great confusion in the Christian world over God’s law and God’s covenants. What is the Old Covenant? What is the New Covenant? When did each begin and how was each ratified? Since we live under the New Covenant do we need the Ten Commandments anymore? And why does any of this matter?

During the month of August we will let the Bible give us clear answers to these questions as we study The Law and the Covenants. This series will be very helpful for every believer who wants to live a life of loving obedience to their Creator.

Two Laws – August 8

304127_2354121656966_325120241_nBefore Jesus comes back, God’s final people on earth will keep all His commandments because they love and trust Jesus (Revelation 14:12; 1 John 5:3; James 2:10-12).

But there is great confusion in the Christian world over God’s commandments. Are some more important than others? Was the law done away with? Do some statutes no longer matter? Does the new covenant do away with the need for the law of God?

During the month of August we will let the Bible give us clear answers to these questions as we study The Law and the Covenants. This series will be very helpful for every believer who wants to live a life of loving obedience to their Creator.
